Hope Hall Project
Hope Hall is more than just a family farm; it’s a thriving haven for nature, where we’re transforming vast areas back to their natural state. With the introduction of Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) for new developments, we’re committed to boosting biodiversity on the farm. Since September 2020, we’ve been creating dedicated BNG units across the landscape, resulting in a vibrant, flourishing ecosystem.
At the heart of our restoration efforts is a rich, neutral grassland habitat created in collaboration with Barenbrug. Our carefully selected mix of over 30 native wildflowers and grasses now covers a third of the site, providing a vital resource for local wildlife. The sight of increased bird and insect life over the past four years has been incredibly rewarding, as each season brings new species and more thriving populations.
Our ecological vision goes beyond meadows. We’ve established a large pond, which has attracted waterfowl and amphibians, expanding the variety of wildlife and further enriching the local ecosystem. The site is also bordered by a woodland planted two decades ago, now undergoing extensive management to promote healthier tree growth, dense flora, and diverse animal life. To add a parkland charm, we’ve planted individual trees across our wildflower meadows, enhancing the landscape’s beauty and habitat variety.
Our hedgerows are a key part of our conservation efforts, widened and planted with trees every 30-40 meters. By only cutting half the hedges each year and letting the lower branches grow thick, we provide safe nesting for hedgerow birds, protecting them from predators and supporting thriving bird populations.
With a 30-year Section 106 agreement in place to preserve these habitats, our commitment is long-term. We’re creating a vital link between local Sites of Specific Scientific Interest (SSSI), establishing wildlife corridors that allow species to move and thrive across the landscape. By purchasing BNG units from us, you’re not only streamlining your development process, but you’re also contributing to a legacy in nature—helping to shape a rich, biodiverse future that will flourish for decades to come.
Follow us on this journey and be part of a lasting impact for generations to come.
